Engine oil for Lada and VAZ vehicles

Match the handbook first: viscosity, API category and any OEM requirement. A30, A60 and A80 are options where the specification fits.

Lada and VAZ vehicles cover decades of engine designs, from older carbureted and early injection engines to newer Granta, Vesta and Largus models. The model year and engine code matter more than the badge.

This page helps you prepare an enquiry. It does not replace the vehicle handbook, the current TDS or a workshop's assessment of the engine.

Why the model year matters

An older VAZ engine may specify API SL or an earlier category, while a newer Lada may require API SN or SP and a lower viscosity. A later API category is not automatically suitable for an older engine, and an older category is not automatically suitable for a newer one. Use the handbook.

A30, A60 or A80?

A30 is listed in 15W-40 and 10W-30, API SL, 4 L. A60 is listed in 5W-30 and 5W-40, API SN, 4 L. A80 is listed in 5W-40 and 5W-30, API SN, in 4 L and 1 L packs. Use the grade and category in the handbook; the model name alone does not establish suitability.

What to send in an enquiry

Send the model, year, engine code, the handbook's oil requirement, the pack size and the quantity. If the vehicle runs on gas or has been modified, say so. These details let us check the listed products against the requirement instead of guessing.

Application FAQ

Questions to settle before ordering.

Can I use A30 in a Lada Vesta?

Only if the handbook confirms API SL and the 15W-40 or 10W-30 grade. A newer Vesta may require API SN or SP and a different viscosity. Check the manual and the TDS before ordering.

Is 5W-30 better than 15W-40 for a Lada?

Neither is universally better. The handbook, the lowest start-up temperature and the engine condition determine the grade. A60 offers 5W-30 and 5W-40 where API SN is required; A30 offers 15W-40 and 10W-30 where API SL is specified.

Can I use one oil for a mixed Lada fleet?

Only if every vehicle's handbook allows the same viscosity, API/ACEA category and OEM requirement. If the fleet includes older and newer engines, separate the requirements by vehicle instead of choosing one oil for all.
